Beloit & Beyond: Exploring careers in health

Four students presented about their healthcare experiences in the Beloit community during the Beloit & Beyond Conference . The panel was hosted by Emily Sager , who is also the career development advisor for the School of Health Sciences .

Students received career advice from alumni

Lirio Hittle’86 and Samir Goswami’98 visited Beloit College on September 12-13 to participate in classes and offer professional advice. Students were particularly interested in careers in diplomacy, security, climate policy and advocacy, foreign policy, international law, human rights, and international development.

The “Yuyanapaq” project documented the atrocities inflicted on the Peruvian people during two decades of national unrest, creating photographic evidence. The sign in this Lima protest translates as “No to terrorism.”

A decade of student and faculty work has come together into a book which documents and reflects on the human rights violations that took place in Peru between 1980 and 2000, two of the bloodiest decades in the nation’s history.

Meet twins Farah and Ariana Tolu-Honary’24 and their younger sister, Mina’26. Though they run in different circles on campus and studied abroad in three different places to improve their language skills in three different languages, the sisters all share the goal of becoming teachers or professors.

Last summer, Camille Ledoux traveled halfway across the world for Beloit’s Global Experience Seminar in Germany and Poland.

Law internships and trips across the world

A summer paralegal internship in Canada and a Global Experience Seminar to Germany and Poland set Camille Ledoux’25 up for a year of international education . She hopes to continue to combine her interests in environmental studies and law as she narrows her focus post-Beloit.

Louise Claussen’24 aspires to focus in public policy in law school after graduation.

Exploring public health law

Louise Claussen’24 explored public policy through a health lens at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs through the Junior Summer Institute. She found that her experiences outside the classroom were just as integral to her education as anything inside it.
